Vol.2016:N°12 - 2016-12-01 - Farbe Material Oberfläche = Colour Materials Finishes (Bulletin de Detail : Zeitschrift für Architecktur + Baudetail)
[n° ou bulletin]
Titre : Vol.2016:N°12 - 2016-12-01 - Farbe Material Oberfläche = Colour Materials Finishes Type de document : texte imprimé Année de publication : 2016 Langues : Allemand (ger) Anglais (eng) Catégories : Architecture intérieure -- Matériaux
Couleur en architectureIndex. décimale : 72 Architecture Résumé : Some places or epochs are identified with certain colours: Siena for example, which lent its name to yellowish-brown pig-ments, or the Habsburg era with its Imperial yellow. Tel Aviv, has its White City – a UNESCO World Heritage site designed by Jewish architects who studied at the Bauhaus. White is the colour identified with the Modern Movement, of course, but the coloured interiors of the masters’ houses in Dessau by Walter Gropius show that not everything was reduced to that hue.
There are probably just as many colour theories as there are colour tones; but the streets in our towns and cities are rarely characterized by a consistent colour scheme. In this respect, the materials and their surface finishes play a dominant role. In our December issue, we present various architectural concepts that focus on the effects of colour. For example, the Sparren-burg Visitors’ Centre in Bielefeld with its tamped concrete facades enters into a dialogue with the historical surroundings, while the polychrome glazing of Sauerbruch Hutton’s office building in London forms a deliberate counterpoint to the urban environment. As one can see, architecture has to come to terms with colour. There is no such thing as neutrality.En ligne : http://www.detail-online.com/magazine/colour-materials-finishes-29002/ [n° ou bulletin] Vol.2016:N°12 - 2016-12-01 - Farbe Material Oberfläche = Colour Materials Finishes [texte imprimé] . - 2016.

The form it takes varies as markedly as the accompanying attraction: some of our examples are nestled in their surroundings, while others stand out against the backdrop of sublime landscapes. For him, »béton brut« had to be sculptural and raw, irregular and powerful.
This philosophy still has its adherents today, as is demonstrated by the new library in Beidaihe, China, which stands like a monolith in the landscape, defying wind and weather, its surfaces reflecting the interplay of light and shade occasioned by the sawn softwood shuttering. Quite a different impression is conjured by a school in London, where the concrete has a smooth, white, gleaming appearance. Here, the animated quality of the precast facades is based largely on the rhythm of the angular window reveals.
The exterior of the German School in Madrid is characterized by a combination of precast and in-situ concrete, with a latticework of balustrades and diagonal load-bearing columns. These and the other buildings in this issue show the enormous scope that exists for using concrete today. What’s more, as the range of innovative exposed-concrete surfaces described in the introductory Discussion shows, this ancient building material is always good for a surprise, presenting ever new faces.En ligne : http://www.detail-online.com/magazine/concrete-construction-27211/ [n° ou bulletin] Vol.2016:N°4 - 2016-04-01 - Bauen mit beton = Concrete Construction = Construire en béton [texte imprimé] . - 2016.

Éclairage intérieurIndex. décimale : 72 Architecture Résumé : Toyo Ito, who is nearing seventy-five, continues to reinvent himself. Seeking resemblances in his buildings, even two of them, would likely be in vain. The common thread running through nearly all his designs, however, is poise. This he combines with an inclination to do away with the distinction between indoors and outdoors, or at least to blur it a bit. At a university library in Taipei, the irregularly placed mushroom columns stand on both sides of its pared-down glazed skin.
Filtered daylight enters the library space through glazed openings between the parasol-like supports, making the silhouettes of the roof structure become indistinct. Perhaps it is this quality of light that endows the space with a special atmosphere. Daylight plays an important role in an expressive transfer terminal at the new train station in Arnheim, as well. Carefully positioned skylights direct it deep into the interior, but also supply views outward, helping passengers orient themselves.
In contrast, a pre-school in western Austria by Bernardo Bader and a residence in Slovenia by Ofis arhitekti are characterised by thoroughly considered details and carefully selected surface materials. A shop in Kuala Lampur by Russell & George employs white to intimate luxury. The bright lighting and the slender cross-sections of the spatial screen obscure the contours. Toyo Ito would be pleased. - 2016.

LudothèquesIndex. décimale : 72 Architecture Résumé : A solid wall consisting of courses of red bricks, a double layer of reflecting glass or a rear-ventilated skin of ornamental metal sheeting: modern facades exhibit an almost unlimited range of materials, forms of construction and appearances. In this issue, a library in Spiez, Switzerland, is distinguished by a modern timber outer skin, a material that is nevertheless in the local, rural tradition.
In contrast, the stone outer wall of a housing development in Hangzhou, China, radiates a sense of solidity and reliability. The warm texture of the brick facings of a housing block in Santiago, Chile, are contrasted with the strict lines of the prefabricated metal window elements, while the perforated, corrugated copper facades of a new sports hall in Villach, Austria, are like a semi-transparent veil drawn over the building.
In an office complex in Geneva, the outer skin combines design elegance with the latest technology. Here, the triangular elements, set at a slight angle, catch the light kaleidoscopically, lending the closed cavity facade a crystalline appearance. Further information on the projects in this issue can be found on our home page at www.detail-online.com which, incidentally, was awarded the prestigious prize for the best website 2016 by the Deutsche Fachpresse.Note de contenu : Diskussion • discussion
