Couleur en architectureIndex. décimale : 72 Architecture Résumé : Some places or epochs are identified with certain colours: Siena for example, which lent its name to yellowish-brown pig-ments, or the Habsburg era with its Imperial yellow. Tel Aviv, has its White City – a UNESCO World Heritage site designed by Jewish architects who studied at the Bauhaus. White is the colour identified with the Modern Movement, of course, but the coloured interiors of the masters’ houses in Dessau by Walter Gropius show that not everything was reduced to that hue.
There are probably just as many colour theories as there are colour tones; but the streets in our towns and cities are rarely characterized by a consistent colour scheme. In this respect, the materials and their surface finishes play a dominant role. In our December issue, we present various architectural concepts that focus on the effects of colour. For example, the Sparren-burg Visitors’ Centre in Bielefeld with its tamped concrete facades enters into a dialogue with the historical surroundings, while the polychrome glazing of Sauerbruch Hutton’s office building in London forms a deliberate counterpoint to the urban environment. As one can see, architecture has to come to terms with colour. There is no such thing as neutrality.En ligne : http://www.detail-online.com/magazine/colour-materials-finishes-29002/ [n° ou bulletin] Vol.2016:N°12 - 2016-12-01 - Farbe Material Oberfläche = Colour Materials Finishes [texte imprimé] . - 2016.

Théâtres en rondIndex. décimale : 72 Architecture Résumé : Approximately one year ago, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg opened its doors for the first time. With the advent of this new landmark on the River Elbe in North Germany, one registers an increase in the general esteem for stage structures. Nowadays their cultural significance is no longer called in question; it is appreciated instead. In the public perception, buildings of this kind everywhere have assumed a status that was formerly reserved for museums.
In the March issue of Detail, we present concepts for auditoriums and open-air theatres, congress centres and large opera houses. The one thing they all have in common, of course, is a stage – sometimes larger, sometimes smaller and sometimes even variable in size. The examples we include here, from Swabia to North Jutland, from Canada and China, allow a comparison of typological aspects; for example, questions of access and circulation and the layout of the individual halls. In the two longer “Process” contributions, which describe the Music Forum in Bochum and the Auditorium and Congress Centre in Plasencia, Spain, we investigate concrete issues involving the acoustics and planning.
Stage structures are public places where people gather and feel at home. In Bochum, Bez+Kock Architects have succeeded in reactivating a 19th-century neo-Gothic church for this purpose. And in the Extremadura in Spain, a new auditorium by José Selgas and Lucía Cano has caught the attention of the public for the first time in this context in a remote location where such an audience did not previously exist. These, too, are aspects with which we have been keenly concerned in the editorial team.Note de contenu : Magazin Reports

Matériaux -- TextureIndex. décimale : 72 Architecture Résumé : At times, architecture stands out because of its colours. In Marseille, the new high-rise by Jean Nouvel, La Marseillaise, for example, is a shimmering French tricolour. The office tower boasts a facade of reinforced concrete elements, hand-painted in shades of blue, white and red. The skyscraper stands 135 m high, a proud beacon that can be seen by ships entering the port city. The new House of Music in Innsbruck, enveloped in dark ceramic lamellas, sets a counterpoint to the pale plaster facades of the neighbouring historic buildings – a balancing act that architects Erich Strolz and Dietrich Untertrifaller approached with great care. Meanwhile, Jacques Ferrier transformed the central administration building of Rouen into a three-dimensional impressionist painting by means of coloured glass louvres mounted at different angles. The reflection of the facade’s different colours on the surface of the Seine amplify the effect.
For our April issue, Frank Kaltenbach has compiled these and other outstanding examples that bring together architecture and colour through a variety of concepts and materials. Rounding out the vivid palette in this issue is our technical feature by David Keist, which presents sophisticated colour technologies and their materials. Meanwhile, Anneke Bokern explores in her essay how the colour black is anchored in the building tradition by looking at various examples from different countries and epochs.Note de contenu : 1 Editorial
