In celebration of Detail’s 60th birthday, we want to envision the future of architecture but also take stock of the past. To kick off the new year, we focus on a classic construction topic: roof structures. Our documentations present a selection of recent projects with exciting construction solutions such as clever shed roofs, modular timber constructions and roof structures that bring daylight into the interior. Urbanisme durable -- 21e siècleIndex. décimale : 72 Architecture Note de contenu : If the aim is net zero, demolition and landfill disposal must be avoided at all costs. Today, a progressive architecture is one that takes part in the circular economy and reuses building materials. This issue presents buildings designed with this in mind: Powerhouse Company’s Floating Office in Rotterdam can be moved as a whole or disassembled into reusable elements. In Basel, Baubüro In Situ mainly used recycled building components to refurbish and extend the Elys cultural and commercial building. In Amsterdam, Cepezed designed a temporary court-house whose dismantling and relocation were planned from the outset. Our special Green section rounds out this look at the circular economy by addressing buildings’ energy consumption. Enjoy the issue! The Versatility of Timber Construction
From residential estates and office complexes to an observation tower and an Olympic milestone in Paris, this issue showcases the versatility of timber construction through seven exemplary projects, each documented in depth with our focus on construction details.
In Paris, Mobile Architectural Office has completed an elegant social housing project that fills a corner plot near Gare de L’Est, with a street-facing facade of cross laminated timber (CLT) clad in white corrugated panels. Meanwhile, the Start-UP business incubator in Heilbronn’s Neckaruferpark, designed by Waechter + Waechter, stands out with its exposed V-column glulam frame. In Riehen near Basel, Studio Gugger has infused a modular residential complex of four buildings with an idyllic dark red hue – evoking Sweden’s iconic red houses. And in Kristiansand at the southern tip of Norway, the Oslotre team has designed a distinctive commercial and office building featuring a facade of curved green pine elements. Our Technology section examines the Olympic Aquatics Centre in Paris, an exceptional timber structure by Schlaich Bergermann Partner. Its suspended roof spans nearly 90 metres over the pool – a record worthy of the Games.En ligne : https://www.detail.de/de_en/detail-11-24 [n° ou bulletin] 11.2024 - 2024-11-09 - Holzbau + Vorfertigung [texte imprimé] . - 2024.

Revêtements murauxIndex. décimale : 72 Architecture Résumé : Anyone who follows the debates on building materials in architecture inevitably encounters the term "material justice". This refers to the relationship of individual materials to their appropriate tasks and application scenarios. At present, the discussion about material justice is determined by many aspects that were not up for debate 100 years ago. The energy consumption of buildings, the life cycle of materials and their gray energy are fixed parameters for an architecture that takes responsibility in climate issues.
Not every material scores in this regard, like wood as a renewable resource. Concrete also makes sense on a case-by-case basis, especially with regard to energy consumption and the climate region of the building. Overall, it is crucial that energy and material concepts are carefully coordinated and take concrete requirements and uses into account.
For this issue, our editor Julia Liese has compiled current projects made of wood and reinforced concrete, brick and corten steel - the climate data are documented in each case as well. And as different as the materials and surfaces of the selected buildings are, as versatile are their construction solutions.En ligne : https://www.detail.de/en/de_en/detail-4-23 [n° ou bulletin] 4.2023 - 2023-04-09 - Materal, Oberfläche = Materials, Surfaces [texte imprimé] . - 2023.
