Travail du bambouIndex. décimale : 745.51 Bois Résumé :
Traditionally a building material of hot climate zones in Asia and Latin America, bamboo is increasingly discovered by architects of the Northern hemisphere as well. It is lightweight, highly elastic and ductile, and in addition offers qualities especially in demand in an era of limited resources, renewability and abundant availability. Architects and engineers have significantly widened the applications of bamboo in recent years and today even wide-span bridges can be built from it.
Impressed with its technical and aesthetic possibilities, European, Japanese and North American architects have adopted bamboo for a variety of construction tasks, ranging from exclusive private residences to experimental pavilions, and from airy canopies to schools or museums.
The new and revised second edition of this manual provides a practical, systematic overview of the numerous potential applications and processing methods of this renewable material.
The comprehensive presentation of groundbreaking bamboo buildings has been updated with more recent projects.Building with bamboo : Design and technology of a sustainable architecture [texte imprimé] / Gernot Minke (1937-....), Auteur . - Second and revised ed. . - Basel : Birkhäuser, cop. 2016 . - 1 vol. In view of the growing number of diverse life styles, the search for flexible, adaptable floor plans has become a fundamental issue in residential building.
That the continued demand in urban centres can only be responsibly satisfied by high-density housing is undisputed.
More than ever before, building high-density housing is a diverse and challenging task for planners and architects.
This book presents international projects which document the complexity of the task, from the design of the floor plans, the development and use of resources, to the use of economically beneficial building systems. The high quality of the architecture and construction in such residential areas can be clearly seen in the uniform illustrations of the floor plans, and large-scale drawings of details.
The introductory contributions discuss extensively the topic of floor plan design and development. This book is a comprehensive review of the current state of residential building, the perspectives and future developments.High-Density Housing : Concepts - Planning - Construction [texte imprimé] / Christian Schittich (1956 - ....), Directeur de publication, rédacteur en chef . - Basel : Birkhäuser, 2004 . - 174 p. : ill. en noir et blanc, ill. en coul., couv. ill. en coul. ; 31 cm. - (In DETAIL) .

Meubles -- DesignIndex. décimale : 7.05 Design industriel Résumé :
Limited Edition is the new buzzword in furniture design. The demand for unique pieces is steadily increasing. With prototypes, one-offs and limited product lines, designers are celebrating a cult of individuality for all price classes. Furniture prototypes have always been an element of the industrial design process, but now they are being brought from the workshops and presented to the public as embodiments of one of the most exciting creative fields of our age. In the global village with its standardized commodities, exclusive one-offs with an artisanal flavor are turning into coveted objects. Limited furniture series satisfy the collector’s thirst for objects that dissolve the boundary between art and design.
Limited Edition pursues this new phenomenon and uncovers its background in meticulous investigative essays based on the author’s ongoing interchange with key designers, gallery owners, auctioneers and manufacturers. With a rich selection of magnificent images and an attractive layout, it presents the best and most breathtaking pieces by the leading designers.Limited edition : prototypes, one-offs and design art furniture [texte imprimé] / Sophie Lovell, Auteur . - Basel : Birkhäuser, 2009 . - 255 p. : ill. en coul. ; 27 cm.
